Making Adjustments

     It’s hard enough to sleep in a bed at all, let alone during the night. But the Safe Houses are all diurnal – part of the whole ‘walk in the sunshine’ thing, Mal has no doubt, although she suspects that it’s a safety measure too. No chance of having those cheery support meetings interrupted by angry relatives if the relatives are all asleep.
     Mal turns over uncomfortably.
     Her train of thought isn’t exactly helping the sleep situation, either.
     She sighs in the dark.
     It’s not that she wants Margolotta – truth be told, she’s not even sure that Margolotta wants her – but it’s easy comfort and, in a way, good practice. Sex without biting, without the (wonderful, wonderful, no – not going there) taste of blood in her mouth.
     Mal rolls over again and tries, once more, to get some sleep.
