You Say Such Things
by Amazon Syren

“You retire early these days, Mal,” a voice murmurs from the darkness.
“Rosamond,” I say, smoothly, despite my surprise at finding her in my bedroom. “What are you doing here?”
“I’ve been waiting for you.” She plucks my hairbrush from the vanity. “Close the door?”
I let it swing shut, behind me, not understanding, but suspecting. Is she... like that, too?
“I haven’t seen you in decades,” I comment. “I heard you got married.”
She snorts, softly, taking my hand and drawing me, unresisting, to my own bed.
“If you can call it that.” She sits beside me and begins to draw the brush through my hair. “I used to do this when you were little,” she comments. “Do you remember?”
I do. Rosamond used to watch me when my parents were out hunting together.
“Do you remember... you couldn’t have been more than twenty, maybe not even that... You asked me if I’d marry you. Do you remember?”
      I shiver involuntarily.
“Yes,” I whisper. “You told me,” I swallow. “You told me I shouldn’t say such things...” My breath is shallow.
      Is she? Is this?
She discards the brush, running her fingers through my hair and raising shivers from my skin. Suddenly her lips are pressed against my ear, and her breasts are pressed against my back.
“Say such things, Mal,” she whispers, pleading. Her hands slide hungrily over my body and I shudder with sudden need. “Say such things for me.”
How can I answer anything but ‘yes’?<
