Temptation

     The pink cardigan fluttered to the floor.
     “I— my Lady, there must be some mistake.”
     “Maladicta, my treasure, I sink not.” For all that she wore the black ribbon the Lady’s smile was predatory. “Ve do look into our members’ histories, after all.” Pale arms slipped around Maladicta’s slim waist. A whisper, “I know vhy you vere exiled.”
     Soft lips brushed Maladicta’s throat, making her pulse race.
     “My Lady,” she said, trembling for more reasons than she could currently count. “My Lady, you know I just got out—”
     “All the more reason to celebrate your success, don’t you sink?”
     Mal felt her knees go weak. She wanted this, badly, even if she didn’t entirely want the person offering it. She was gentler than Vanya though, and that was something.
     “Why?” she whispered, tightly, as light fingers trailed over her bodice.
     “Vhy, my dear,” replied the Lady. “Because ve can.”
