Blouse. A captain in the Borogravian
army. A thin, fairly young man, who needs thick glasses to see, but doesn't bother
with them much; he has no chin, but a handsome Adam's apple. Useless in the art
of war, but otherwise quite clever. Tends to tack inverted commas around every
word he finds even slightly 'racy'. Blouse was
second lieutanent for eight years, during which he had a desk job, and was promoted
to lieutanent only when the Borogravian army was employing and mobilising every
male it could find. He took over the Monstrous
Regiment and led them to the Kneck Keep. On the way
he met the Ankh-Morpork Times, who were convinced
(mostly by Sergeant Jackrum) that Blouse was a military
genius nicknamed "Tiger". He is, in fact, a genius when it comes to
numbers. Blouse entered the captured Kneck
Keep dressed as a washerwoman, with the intention of freeing the Borogravian soldiers
imprisoned there and recapturing the Keep. He was soon followed by his squad,
and they eventually did accomplish the feat. Blouse was made captain and even
fulfilled his life-long dream: he had a piece of clothing named after him - a
type of fingerless glove. Curiously, Blouse
cannot shave but is very good at ironing. This is because his personal servant
always shaved him, but refused to iron, because this was "women's work".
