Manickle, Betty. An excellent cook and by nature a follower, with rebellious streak is hidden somewhere under deep layers of waffling. She was brave enough to join the Borogravian army and the Monstrous Regiment as 'Shufti' Manickle. This was originally to find and marry Johnny, who'd left her pregnant and missing a sixpence. After all the trouble was over, though, she decided he wasn't worth having. She is now the mother of Jack Manickle and a cook at the Duchess.
