Alice Goom / Wazzer. A young Borogravian woman. She was once an inmate of the Grey House. She became a great believer in the Duchess and prayed to her until the Duchess began replying. The Duchess advised Alice to escape, dress as a man, join the army, whom she promised would lead her to Kneck Keep, where Alice was to meet the army's high command.
     Alice obliged, joined the Monstrous Regiment, and appeared before the high command, upon which time the Duchess possessed her and talked to the high command, with the result that peace came to Borogravia for the first time that anyone remembered. Alice led the joyous march to PrinceMarmadukePiotrAlbertHansJosephBernhardt-Willhelmsberg and, after the excitement settled down, was taken in by General Froc, and lived a quiet and joyous life.
     Alice's nickname in the army was Wazzer.
